The BC Supreme Court recently released the following decision:

Piccini v. Dahlgren-Piccini, 2010 BCSC 859 Docket: 33615, Prince George Registry (Retroactive child support)

Defendant parent had under-reported income. Recipient parent awarded retroactive child support for younger child; older child no longer considered child of marriage.

BC Coroners Service Domestic Violence Death Report

BC’s first domestic violence death review panel has issued 19 recommendations that call for more consistency, information-sharing and timeliness in dealing with domestic violence cases. Among other findings, the panel’s report recommends:

More co-ordination within the judicial system, since civil and family law processes often stem from domestic violence.
Better sharing of relevant information among government ministries and collaborating agencies involved in domestic violence prevention and response.

CBABC Family Law Rules Subcommittee

The CBABC has established a Family Law subcommittee to monitor implementation of the new rules, gather feedback about what works and what does not work, and distribute information to the membership about how the new rules are being interpreted.
The members of the Family Law Rules Subcommittee are David Dundee of Paul & Company in Kamloops, and John-Paul Boyd of Aaron Gordon Daykin Nordlinger in Vancouver. The subcommittee welcomes feedback regarding the new rules and will provide periodic updates via an email subscription.
