Small Claims Rules amendments and new form

From August 16, 2021:

The BC government is now amending the Small Claims Rules. Effective August 16, 2021, the changes will expand the possibilities for remote attendance at small claims proceedings to include videoconferencing and audioconferencing.

The amendments include a new Form 38 – Address for Service Form that includes email as an option for delivery of some court documents. Starting August 16, 2021, parties must file and serve a Form 38 – Address for Service Form when filing court documents other than “initiating documents” (the forms used to file a claim). See the form at the end of the amending regulation.

See the Provincial Court of BC website for a summary of amendments: Small Claims Rules amendments effective August 16, 2021 include new form

The amended rules should be available on BC Laws after August 16.
