The British Columbia Court of Appeal Criminal Appeal Rules, 1986 (SI-86/137 and BC Reg 145/86) are made pursuant to sections 482(1) and (4) of the Criminal Code.
The rules were amended by SI/91-81 and BC Reg 176/91, effective April 22, 1991.
SI/91-81 as printed in the 1991 Canada Gazette Part II, p. 1840, states that the meeting was held on April 22, 1981 and became effective April 22, 1981; this is a typo. The meeting and the effective date are actually April 22, 1991, as printed in the 1991 British Columbia Gazette Part II, p.209.
Note: S.C. 2019, c. 25, s. 186(2) amended section 482(4) of the Criminal Code to remove the requirement to publish the rules of court in the Canada Gazette. Effective since September 19, 2019, they are published in the BC Gazette Part II only.
