Supreme Court of Canada decisions: Perjury Related to Testimony

The Supreme Court of Canada released the following two decisions:

R. v. Robinson, 2017 SCC 52, File no. 37411

R. v. Millington, 2017 SCC 53, File no. 37235

(The appellant was one of the four RCMP officers involved in the encounter at Vancouver International Airport that resulted in the death of Robert Dziekanski.  On appeal, appellant argued verdict was unreasonable because guilt was not the only reasonable inference available on the evidence; and that trial judge misapprehended the evidence concerning (i) Mr. Dziekanski’s being “wrestled” or “taken” to the ground, (ii) whether Mr. Dziekanski was “swinging” the stapler, and (iii) the appellant’s motive to lie.  Both appeals dismissed.)
