Thank you for treating staff and fellow clients with kindness and care.
Disruptive or disrespectful clients may be asked to leave.
Our libraries are for our clients – the legal community and the public – to conduct legal research and access legal information. Our protocols are to protect the rights and safety of everyone, and to protect the libraries’ materials, equipment and facilities.
Clients should:
- be courteous and respectful toward other clients and staff
- treat resources and equipment with care
- comply with requests from staff
- obey library signage, policies and Canadian laws
- respect that the library is a public space when having conversations
- be responsible for those in your care, such as children
Clients should not:
- engage in violent, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, bullying or harassing language or conduct of any kind. This includes behavior that unreasonably distracts or impedes staff or clients from using the library.
- come into the library when sick
- disturb other clients to seek, or offer, legal information or advice
- leave personal possessions or valuables unattended
- bring in animals, other than guide or service animals
- film or photograph anyone in the library, without the consent of the sheriffs, staff, and the person(s) photographed
Staff may set time limits on the use of public access computers.
At the discretion of staff, clients who don’t follow these protocols may be asked to leave the library,
may be removed by courthouse security and/or may have library privileges suspended.
