Breathalyzer technicians - designation
Last revised February 21, 2024

In BC, the designation of qualified technicians pursuant to section 320.11 of the Criminal Code does not require publication. Designations are made provincially - in BC, by the Deputy Attorney General - and may be confirmed by contacting Policing in B.C.

Qualified technicians in BC are police officers who have completed prescribed breathalyzer training.  Officers testifying in court must provide a designation notice or certificate as proof of qualification.
