Where can I find bankruptcy lists?
Last revised September 07, 2022

Prior to the 1992 revision of the Bankruptcy Act, lists of bankruptcies were published in the Canada Gazette, Part I.  Public records are now kept in a database maintained by the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy in Ottawa.  The Bankruptcy and Insolvency Records database contains basic debtor information of all bankruptcies and proposals registered in Canada since 1978, receiverships registered since January 1993 and any petitions known to the Office.  A "pay per use" fee is charged to view search results.

Individuals may also contact the Office to conduct a name search for either a person or a company.
