New Legal Information Publications Available

Great news! There are two new legal information publications available to help your patrons – and both are print-friendly for those who prefer print resources.

Pathways to Police Accountability Toolkit

This publication, created by the BC Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA) is a companion publication to their Arrest Handbook. This toolkit helps readers learn about their options when police violate their rights, including police complaints, human rights complaints, and/or suing the police.

You can read the publication online on the BCCLA website, download the PDF of the Toolkit, or order print copies for free from BCCLA to put on your shelves. Please note that print copies are limited and it may take a few weeks to receive your copies.

Safety Together Report and Zine

The Safety Together report from West Coast LEAF identifies six systemic intersections between gender-based violence and family policing which increase risk and create harm for survivors, families, and children. West Coast LEAF created a zine based on the report, which brings together the report’s key takeaways and insights with artwork by parents and youth.

You can access both the report and zine on West Coast LEAF’s website. Both are available in PDF and can be downloaded and printed for patrons who prefer print.

Remember, you can use a portion of your LawMatters’ grant to print legal resources for your patrons! If you have any questions about using grant funds for this purpose, please get in touch with the LawMatters team at lawmatters@courthouselibrary.ca
