Upcoming Webinar: Well-Being and Trauma-Responsive Practice in Law: Building A Human Curriculum for Lawyers - Part 2

Presenter:

Dr. Judy Jaunzems-Fernuk

Description:

Courthouse Libraries BC is proud to support Community Legal Assistance Society BC – SHARP and Stand Informed Legal Advice Services in presenting: Well-Being and Trauma-Responsive Practice in Law: Building A Human Curriculum for Lawyers - Part 2

The second session Building A Human Curriculum for Lawyers builds on Dr. Judy Jaunzems-Fernuk’s Session 1 (Fall 2025) which provided a broad overview of key topics, exploring the intersection of mental health and legal practice, drawing on the National Study on the Psychological Health of Legal Professionals in Canada (2022-2024). This session will provide a more detailed and intimate conversation on trauma, stress, and healing. Participants will learn how trauma shapes both client and lawyer experiences, and how unaddressed stress and vicarious trauma can compromise advocacy, ethics, and overall health. Judy’s work emphasizes the power of humans to help humans heal, and that thriving in the legal profession requires recognizing trauma’s impact, embracing self-care as an ethical duty (Aware-Care-Cope), and fostering compassionate, sustainable workplaces. Sessions two is participatory and will include personal reflective time to consider needs, coping skills, and plans for sustainable well-being, both personally and professionally. Participants will have time to reflect individually and within their teams.

This session will not be recorded and will not be made available on our Vimeo channel.

Participants in this presentation may claim up to 1.5 hours of CPD credit with LSBC.
