Court of Appeal Books - cover colour requirements

The Court of Appeal Rules, B.C. Reg. 120/2022 includes language under each of the rules listed on the table below with some variation of the words "[the document] must be prepared in accordance with the completion instructions". The completion instructions for paper filing each document will specify which colour the cover and back pages of each of the filings must be in. They have been collected here for ease of reference.
For each of these, the cover and back page of a cerlox-bound book must be in the required colour. Only the front cover for each will need to have text printed on it. This table only lays out cover colours when the completion instructions list a specific colour requirement. Other binders may require covers but do not list a prescribed colour so any colour of paper may be used.
The required paper colours only apply to physically filed materials. E-filed documents can be black and white, although some e-filed documents must also be prepared as physical documents after filing. The purpose of the coloured covers is to make it easier for the judges to identify which documents belong to which party.
